The sky is falling!

Sunday night my roommate noticed water dripping from one of the lights in the kitchen. We figured out it was coming from the upstairs bathroom, but we couldn't find a leak anywhere! I called the plumber and it turns out, the upstairs toilet was leaking, but into the tiles and through the floor, so no one noticed a leak until i t started coming out our ceiling. He fixed the toilet for $433, but wanted $1,960 to fix the ceiling. Lucky for us, Cowboy can fix it for under $100!

We made a huge mess. Making the mess was much more fun than cleaning it up was.

Gone Shooting

Yesterday Cowboy, brother, two of cowboy's friends, and I went shooting. We shot shotguns and my dad's glock. We shot at clay pigeons and i shot one on my second try with the shotgun! We played some shooting game, and i ended up getting brother and one of cody's friends out by shooting a piece of the broken skeet just before it hit the ground..granted it was mostly dumb luck. My shoulder is super sore now,i can barely raise my arm, but it was still fun.

Be Mine, Valentine.

This valentines day was the best ever! Didn't do anything too fancy, but spent it with my boy, and it was awesome!

Cowboy bought me my own candy machine. It might be a tad juvenile that I still get excited about putting a coin into the machine, twisting it, and having my hand filled with delicious chocolate, but, it excites me. The idea of having a candy machine in my living room, with the candy of my choice makes me a little happy. And i just think it looks cool.

He even filled it with candy for me, and left me plenty of coins to enjoy.

Cody has a playing card collection, so I customized a deck of cards with his favorite picture.

I also took a regular deck and on each card i wrote something i love about him.

Cody took me to see the vow! i have been wanting to see this movie since i heard it was coming out, and he remembered and took me, even though it was not his kind of movie. bless his heart.

For dinner he surprised me with a pizza, cut into the shape of a heart! <3 what a sweet heart.

Best Valentines Ever!!

Ugly Duckling Syndrome

For those who have never heard of Ugly Duckling Syndrome , Urban Dictionary explains it quite appropriately as:

A Girl who grew up all her life unattractive until High School or College when she then "Blossomed" into a really hot girl. Unlike naturally pretty girls though, her self-esteem is pretty low (As it'll almost permanently be for life) but, she has a good heart, personality, and soul because that's all she could afford to have when she was unattractive.

Why am i bringing this up you ask? Because the other day my 13 year old sister came to the conclusion that we are both sufferers of Ugly Ducking Syndrome.

I was talking to her on the phone and mid sentence she burst out laughing.

Yez: HAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

Me: What?

Yez: HAHAH, wooh, He he he, wahha *starts choking on laughs*

Me: Calm down and tell me what is so funny!

Yez, hahahahah, hahaha, haha, hah, ha... I Just saw the most awkward picture of you ever! You're wearing blue pants that are an awkward length, and a black shirt that isnt... flattering, and one of those weird hats with no tops! Hahaha.

Me: Send me the picture i want to see it!

Yez: Ok, its really funny. If you look at your face you look really pretty, but if you look at your body... it just dosn't match!

Me: Yez, i think that is the meanest thing you have ever said! (In a joking manner)

Yez: I didnt mean to be mean.... it was just your awkward stage.... you grew out of it! ..... I had one too!

Here is the picture that caused so much laughter. Unfortunate proof of my extremely awkward stage that lasted from 4th grade until senior year of high school. But hey, at least i grew out of it!

It's the little things that makes my life complete

Been a while since my last entry, I got lazy. So here is a brief summery of just a few of the little moments since i last blogged.

A few days ago i was having a tough night, so the next day after school Cowboy bought me a heart-shaped doughnut just to make things a little better. I love it when he does little things like that.

For Christmas Cowboy bought me my first pair of Cowgirl boots! They are absolutely beautiful! unfortunately they weren't in stock when he ordered them, so they didn't come until a month after Christmas. But they are here!

We took Cowboy's nieces Whitney (5), Breanne (2.5) to Clark Planetarium.
Here they are on Mars:

..And on the moon:

Bre begged to take her hair out, and this is what it looked like. She looked like a little cocker spaniel, it was adorable.

The other day Cowboy drew a mustache like his father's on my mirror

He actually looked a little more like his dad.

And that's just a few of the fun little moments since my last entry.

Dear God, Thank You For The Christmas Present

I got into Saudi Monday night, ready for two weeks of sweat pants, The Khan, shawarmas, and no work- and soon after learned that i needed to help Yez write her talk for that Friday.

After fighting jet lag, with little success this round, Wednesday we wrote that talk, giving her all my wonderful Christmas talk ideas. Only to learn late Thursday night, that i too would be required to write a talk so my dad didn't have speak as long. Except at this point, i had already exhausted all my Christmas ideas and clever Christmas related Dr. Suez quotes.

So finishing my talk at 2:50 Friday morning,i got it done! And then had to be ready by 7:30 to leave for church in Ras Tanura. We took a wrong turn at some point, had to make a very illegal detour off the road, down a sandy dune-like hill to the road beneath, but, we made it to church on time! We all gave our Talks, only to discover that my dad in fact did not require my extra minutes, and actually took sacrament 15 minutes over time, without even finishing his talk.

Disgruntled as i was at the last minute speaking assignment, it was a wonderful opportunity for me to remind myself about the true meaning of Christmas. I, unfortunately, am one of the many poor souls who throughout the years of ornaments, traditions, and presents had forgotten the real Christmas spirit that we celebrate this season. That is, the great and miraculous blessing of Christ's birth to this mortal earth so many years ago, and the many miracles he preformed, and the final suffering he took upon himself so that we may be saved.

Sometimes it seems to me that it is around Christmas time, where we really seem to loose the true meaning of Christmas. That is, Christ. The blessing that Christ is in our lives, and the spirit of giving and service.

We celebrate that hope we now enjoy because God dwelt among us, living and dying for us.

And now because of Christ…..because of Christmas…..We can live again, with our families, after our mortal death.

This is what the chirstmas spirit is all about. It is HIS Spirit, the CHRISTmas Spirit, the spirit we should strive to have within us, and to share with others unceasingly.

Christmas IS about a gift. But, not so much the gifts we wrap and lay under tree. Christmas is about THE gift of CHRIST.

God gave us the first gift….the Messiah, the babe in the manger, Our Jesus Christ.

“For God so loved the world that He GAVE His one and begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

And so may our hearts always be filed with the Christmas spirit. We do not need a holiday to express the spirit of CHRIST, let us show kindness, service, and CHRIST like love all-year-round.
